Amici filed this brief to urge the Court to grant certiorari and ultimately to reject the Defense Secretary’s attempt to withdraw plea agreements reached by the Military Commissions’ dedicated prosecution team and approved by the Convening Authority — an attempt that has already been deemed unlawful by two military courts.
These plea agreements provide for a comprehensive presentation of evidence and unprecedented involvement of the family members of the 2.976 people murdered in the most egregious criminal act in the history of the United States in the hope of finally bringing long-delayed closure and some semblance of justice to the family members of the murdered victims of the 9/11 attacks.
KKL lawyers Nick Lewin and Ben Perotin authored the amicus brief, with the able assistance of analyst Anusha Merchant.
