On August 14, KKL filed an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of three pro bono clients whose public corruption convictions were unanimously overturned by the Court: former Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell, Bridget Anne Kelly, and Joseph Percoco.
The brief, filed in support of P.G. Sittenfeld’s Petition for a Writ of Certiorari in Sittenfeld v. United States, No. 25-49, and authored by Daniel Noble, Vlad Shafran, and Chandini Jha of KKL, and Howard Master of Nardello & Co., asks the Supreme Court to take up Mr. Sittenfeld’s case. Amici, who previously stood in Mr. Sittenfeld’s shoes, urge the Court to clarify the high standard that federal prosecutors must meet in quid pro quo bribery cases involving First Amendment-protected campaign contributions, highlighting the individual liberties, due process, and federalism concerns that such cases present.
